Three people, including two children were in the hospital Tuesday night after being hit by a car in Southwest Miami-Dade, police said.

Esperanza Trevino told Local 10's Baron James that her brother's car struck two children and a woman as they walked from Diaz Supermarket, across Southwest 268th Street.

Police said one of the children was in serious condition.

Several witnesses ran to help the children before fire rescue made it to the scene. One man said he comforted the older child who was able to speak. The man said he knows the victims and that the injured woman is not the children's mother, but another relative.

Trevino's brother and two other men who were in the car sat inside a Miami-Dade police officer's car, answering questions.
